During Spring Break 2022, it was a privilege to lead FBC Haslam and Believers Baptist Church out on mission to Jean Lafitte, Louisiana to help The Lighthouse Church recover from Hurricane Ida damage. Following the storm in the Fall of 2021, for many months this church was a true lighthouse beyond the storm. They collected work orders, supplies and coordinated volunteer groups to perform work order requests. We were able to help immediately following the storm and met Pastor Chris Johnston. During the Spring Break trip we were able to help the church take a step closer to physical restoration by rewiring the church and installing all new electrical sockets. God’s provision is always exciting to experience as Ben Baskins a member of FBC Haslam was on the trip and had been working for an electrical contractor for ten months learning the necessary skills for this service opportunity. The students from both churches were excellent learners and had a heart to serve. The students were taught how to wire the electrical sockets and then adults inspected the work before final placement in the electrical box.
